Case Study: Kay & Kay
HR Manager: Amie C
Location: Sydney, Australia
“we are very happy with the girls, imparticular T****a, she’s fantastic and very competent and has lifted the standard of everyone around her. Other girls have also been great at managing their time between files, managing inboxes and utilizing ActionStep effectively, so far so good”
Challenges: Kay & Kay, a Sydney-based firm, faced challenges with turnover among their local paralegals, leading to difficulties in managing their workload and it didn’t feel like a good ROI. Despite efforts to maintain a stable team, it felt like there was at least one support person away each week.
Solution: To address these challenges, Kay & Kay transitioned from a team of 5 local paralegals to 5 remote paralegals. This transition aimed to maintain the quality of work while reducing costs and improving efficiency.
Results:
Cost Savings:
Previous Model: 5 local paralegals cost approximately 350,000 AUD per year in wages alone, not including additional expenses such as super, leave benefits, payroll tax, recruitment fees, office space, and equipment.
Remote Model: The new remote model costs approximately 33,000 AUD per remote paralegal per year, totaling 165,000 AUD. With an additional 440 AUD establishment fee and costs for work emails and direct phone extensions, the total cost amounts to 170,000 AUD.
Savings: The transition resulted in a minimum cost saving of 180,000 AUD per year.
Efficiency and Productivity: The remote paralegals were able to manage their time effectively between files, inboxes, and utilizing ActionStep, improving overall efficiency.
Conclusion: By transitioning to remote paralegals, Kay & Kay not only saved significant costs but also improved efficiency and maintained high-quality work. The need for local office space was eliminated, further reducing expenses and streamlining operations.
